Recommended for project-oriented organizations, this particular breed
of web sites have built-in e-Collaboration features allowing teams to
easily share, approve and receive documents directly through the
corporate web site.
Designed through Microsoft technology, a Team Web Site will provide
your organization with a secure extranet easily manageable through a
common web browser anytime and from anywhere in the world. Both site
managers and allowed external contributors need no specific computer
knowledge and just any internet-connected computer to operate.
Site
managers will decide which external contributors will be allowed
seeing, downloading, uploading, commenting, revising, approving any
project-related document with highly customizable user rights. Once
granted their username and password, those contributors will need to

able to give their contribution according to the privileges they have
been granted.

Let us show
visually what you can do with a Team Web site:

Home
Page
In
this sample image the home page of a Team Corporate Web Site is
represented. You will choose the asthetics features you want on
it.
Something
peculiar of a Team Web Site is the Command Bar
shown just below the logo. This bar is just everything users and
administrators need to participate, contribute and manage this e-Collaboration
enabled web site.
The
Quick Launch menu on the left side of
the page takes users to often accessed areas, such as Shared
documents, Discussion Boards,
Contact lists and To-do-Tasks:
all of these features can be project-specific, that's to say every
project may have all these features enabled.
The
Search box allows easy search by keywords
of any document stored into the website, saving time to users who
already know what to look for.
The
central area is devoted to important Announcements
and Events deserving the right visibility.

e-Collaboration
This web site can be just a showcase for the current and previous
work and accomplishments of the firm. However, what makes it
different from the crowd is the built-in e-Collaboration
functionality, through which project team can manage projects with a
new level of efficiency and effectiveness.
All the
e-Collaboration features are accessible through the Command bar at
the top of the screenshot below.
Lists
can be created for any project. This is an important workflow
tool for project managers and team members alike. Relevant
project-related information should be posted here, as Announcements,
Events, To-do-Tasks, Contact list and possible useful Links.
An example of a
project List is shown below.

Creating pages, Uploading/Downloading files
Perhaps the main
strength of this web sites is the ease of use. There is no need of
web-design specific knowledge to create new pages containing
attached documents, contact list, discussion boards, task list etc.
Everything can be
done with a simple click on the Create link of the
Command Bar, which will lead the user to the page shown below.

For example, if
the user needs to create a new directory containing a set of files,
he/she can click on "Document library" and a new page
will be created with the option to type title, text, using a
template or not and creating a shortcut to this library in the home
page under the Quick launch menu.

In order to
upload files, he/she will need to click on "Documents" on the
Command bar, and a new screen will appear as the one shown below:

The whole list of
Project libraries (most likely several per each project) containing
shared documents will appear. In this sample screenshot only one is
found, named Shared documents. After clicking on it, the user will
see the screenshot reported below, where a set of options is found,
including uploading files, creating a document through a template,
filter documents (handy tool when a long list of documents is found)
and subscribe to notification by email when additions to this folder
occur.

Uploading any
file could not be easier. By clicking on "Upload Document" you will
be taken to this view, where you can upload any file from your hard
drive.

Isn't it simple
as we promised ??

Importing/Exporting contact lists
The Team Web
Sites we propose you are designed through a specialized Microsoft
product, named Sharepoint Team Services.
One of the main
advantages of this product is the tight integration with the
Microsoft Office suite.
Among other
things you can do, we want to emphasize the possibility to share on
the web site Microsoft Outlook contact lists that you might already
have prepared, and, conversely, you can also import into your
Outlook contact lists that have been built and updated from time to
time directly on the Team web site.
From the
screenshot below you can decide to manually type a new contact
clicking on New Item, to import contacts from
your Outlook contact list by clicking on Import Contacts
or to transfer what is found on this web list on your Outlook by
clicking Export.
